17 December 2011

Season's Greetings

Year of 2011 was a year of joy, happiness, success and prosperity and we look forward to another year of it all with more strength and a mixture of determination.

We have fought our battles and we have served our communities with pleasure, pride, passion and love.

We have achieved so many things and it wouldn't have been possible without the help of our friends, family and organizations who have worked tirelessly to assist us in reaching our goals. And last but not least we thank God for making the impossible days possible.

We take the time out to thank all our sponsors, friends and family who have been there for us through good and bad times and a special thank you to our members who persevered even when the road ahead looked so rocky and the light so dim.

With a strong, dedicated and hard-working team, we look towards 2012 with positivity and hope to achieve all our goals.

And to our Kiwanis family locally, regionally and internationally we wish you and your family, another year of life, love, prosperity and peace.

One can make a difference, we will make a difference.

With Love,
Kiwanis Club of Old Harbour

11 Years and still going STRONG | Anniversary Meeting

December 5, 2011 was an evening to remember as we celebrated our year of 11; our 11th Anniversary with Kiwanians, friends and family.

The venue was adorned with earthly decorations which depicted our theme "Jamaica Wi Born an' Grow" where one could see palms and colours of the Jamaican flag around the room.

MC DP Fay Case did a great job as she brought us back in history about our country from the roots to present which was entertaining yet informative.

It was also an evening of reflection where we will be focused on our success and growth as a family for the administrative year 2010/2011. The evening was definitely one of celebration where it was a fun-filled event with all friends, family and food.

In addition, we recognized all our friends, family, colleagues and sponsors who had contributed and sacrificed their time and energy for the love of volunteerism and has such been there for the Kiwanis Club of Old Harbour family over the past administrative year.

We'd like to say many thanks to all those who wished us well and who were able to celebrate 11 years of strength with us.

A Day of Care, A Day of Volunteering

It was a day of care and volunteering at the Divisional Day of Care Project for the homeless at Sir William Grant Park on December 3, 2011 where we donated clothing to the homeless and those in need. What a great way to kick start the season of giving and sharing.

Scores of persons came out to the one day project from parts of Downtown, Kingston and St.Andrew which included the young, the young at the heart and the elderly, many of whom were homeless and in need of clothing, food and medical assistance.

It was a pleasure to be among one of the many non-profit organizations who assisted our time and efforts to those in need as we worked ferociously to donate clothes to a thick crowd of homeless persons, many of whom were men. It was a long and hectic day at Sir William Grant Park, Downtown, Kingston but it was indeed a full-filling one.

BIG THANKS to the Kiwanis Club of Eastern Kingston and Port Royal who came on board for this project and to the team from the Boys Brigade and CVSS for organizing a project which was such a success.  Great job guys! Unity is STRENGTH!
